A Walk To Remember A Walk To Remember, by Nicholas Sparks, is an excellent example of American literature at its’ finest. Sparks conveys his own feelings through that of Landon Carter, the lead character in the novel. Landon, a rebellious teen, finds himself falling in love with Jamie Sullivan, the minister‘s daughter. Jamie’s father doesn’t approve of her seeing Landon. Through this disagreement of opinions, Sparks is able to develop his characters clearly. The reader finds that Jamie is a down to earth girl with a positive outlook on life and a strong belief in her faith. She dedicates most of her time to volunteering and school work. Landon, on the other hand, is frequently in trouble. His outlook on life differs from that of Jamie’s in that Landon lives for the moment. His actions take immediate consequence and he often disregards the long term. Sparks uses his characters actions to present their personalities.
