We must focus on providing the youth of the world with an impartial and factual education about the destruction of the environment that has taken place since the industrial revolution. Both television and the internet should be utilized in order for every individual person to formulate their own opinions in regards to the problem of environmental destruction. In my opinion, we must be careful to preserve the positive aspects of capitalism such as incentive and the self interest that is a part of our nature as human beings. At the same time the people of the world must realize that these same characteristics of capitalism have driven our world into severe environmental decline. In the recent past we have also seen that extreme socialism in the form of communism will not provide the incentive necessary to prosper as human beings. A compromise must be acheived. I beleive that the education of the masses will bring a new era of enlightenment and realization accross the world. In my opinion, it is essential to understand and accept our self interest as human beings, as well as the fact that limiting this drive will actually benefit each individual person's long term survival.
