The author of Sunny’s Blues put music in his story to add a positive tone to it. There are many ways why music did bring a positive tone and a few will be explained in the next paragraphs. Sunny play’s the piano (music) because he loves it. He practices everyday at any chance he could. This brought a positive tone to this story because he was not on the streets. All he thought about was playing the piano and whenever he had free time he would play the piano. This keep him at home and off the streets. “ At first, Isabel would write me, saying how nice it was that Sunny was so serious about his music and how, as soon as he came in from school, or whenever he was supposed to be at school he went strait to that piano and stayed there until supper time. And, after supper, he went back to that piano and stayed there until everybody went to bed. He was at the piano all day Saturday and all day Sunday.” This showed that music made such a huge change in Sunny’s life and that he loved something he did.
