Oil on Canvas I selected John E. Costigan work because it took my attention since the first time I saw it, I really like the way he uses the paint. Whenever I imagine myself doing a painting I sort of think his way. I like works that are not as defined as others, I like playing with the paint , finding new techniques that can be used, the impasto looks weird sometimes but the well use of it makes something completely different and artistic. I like color and thickness, looks original to me. The work also makes me felt calmed, but mysterious, made me felt hidden feelings, when I stared at the painting , and the colors just captured me, I just run to the phone to make a phone call I wasn’t going to, so I find it kind of subliminal. Well, it may look so calmed that that it puts your thoughts together and brings peace to your soul. The colors also capture my sight because they look so tender… like a cake. I imagine the artist is not afraid to show his work and just goes and goes as he is doing it, whatever it comes to his mind he puts down on the work. I usually work that way, I’ve never do not like thinking and doing sketches, I just get the materials and start, so you can express whatever you are feeling at that moment.
