Suicide is a major issue for Australia that continues to gain importance and has no clear resolution. In Australia, suicide is the third most common cause of death, after cancer and heart disease. Suicide is the leading external cause of death for men, while it is third for women. More people in Australia die from suicide than road traffic accidents. ... However, from the statistics that labels suicide as a larger threat to Australian people than car accidents, it could be asserted that the government should be investing more money into strategies of suicide prevention and awareness nationwide.
