The oppression of women, over the past one hundred years, has come as a second-hand habit through the higher held male. With the unending male dominance of the law making bodies of the United States, equality for women was a marching path of many years. The obstacles and barriers of women’s history have shaped them into the women we know today, and the women we know historically. The events of the past involving inequality in treatment of women serve as the constant redefinement of feminism. For the past one hundred years, and forever before that, all government bodies on earth have been either dominated or controlled by men. Due to this fact, American equality for women came at the speed of frozen molasses. The all male government body was only part responsible; society’s stereotypes and sexism has plagued women just as badly. Even the simple act of voting was a difficult right to obtain. Until 1920, no woman in America had the right or privilege to vote.
