Aren’t kids movies supposed to be fun and entertaining? Well, apparently not. Throughout the film Lilo&Stitch, a Disney movie that was based on an idea created by Chris Sanders, there are very serious topics such as discrimination, family issues and death, Which no young child should have to face these problems. But many kids do deal with all of those examples and more while they are still very young. Young children cannot really understand or interpret the issues discussed the way adults would. Or the way they are intended to from information given to them in this film. Not very many kids will understand the serious subject matter the way it is meant to be understood. They may even think its funny to be rude or make fun of kids who are different. Being Lilo the only outsider in her group of “friends”, children often gang up on her, laugh at her or make fun of her. To some kids, this may seem like the way to make friends. Not many kids would like to be in Lilo’s place and, although, the film tries to tells kids that they should like and sympathize with Lilo, to avoid being picked on themselves, they probably will just join the other kids so they will at least have friends.
