Quarry Bank Mill Local Study The Domestic System:- The domestic system was the process of making cotton, made by a family in their house. Where they would sheer sheep, then was the wool. The women would wash the wool, then the wool when dried would be posed to children to start carding/brushing the wool, this straightens the fibres in the wool. Then the spinning is done, usually done by women to produce, then weaving we will be done by men before being sent off to the city to be sold. Start / First wool is washed, usually by the women / The children would start carding/brushing the wool / Weaving is now done by men / Cotton is washed by women / Wool sent off to the city / Finish What powered the factories? Muscle:- Advantages: More employers needed so more jobs positions were there for the taking, You can move people easily, where as with machines you cant, people would not take up as much room as machines and people do not need repairing.
