The Law Code of Hammurabi
The Law Code of Hammurabi was a document of 282 laws in Ancient Babylon. From this document of law’s we can get many ideas about what marriage, theft, children, social classes, and beliefs were like in Ancient Babylon. Some people may find some area’s of the law code more interesting than the others. To me laws concerning marriage are the most interesting laws in the law code. So, in this paper I will examine laws from the Code of Hammurabi concerning divorce, dowries, and children. ... In the law code it says that if a man separate from his wife that has borne him children he must give his wife her dowry and part of the field, garden, and property so that she can raise her child(ren).
