Introduction:
Schizophrenia is a world wide issue which has been greatly misunderstood for years and is a tragic disorder that could happen to anyone at any given time. ...
Schizophrenia as a Mental Illness:
The documentary Catalyst addresses the issue of schizophrenia sufferers by implicating that the use of cannabis can cause episodes. ... Unlike the Catalyst documentary, To Hell and Back focus’s more on the fact schizophrenia does not make its sufferers deadly psychotic people. ... Schizophrenia is a disorder that can occur to anyone.
Personal Response:
Through viewing the documentaries and reading Tell Me I’m Here my perception on schizophrenia has been dramatically changed and my knowledge of the issue has been immensely expanded. I have come to realise that sufferers of schizophrenia are not alienated and through the right help and support can lead normal and healthy lives. Schizophrenia is not something to be scared of and the myths behind it create a lot of confusion and only marginalise the sufferers.
