Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Brown” shows that places, things and people can easily cause a person to lose or question there faith. Young Goodman Brown was a man that had faith and his faith stemmed from his wife faith and the people in his town that seemed to be some of the most religious people in town. Young Goodman Brown had gone off to meet the devil. ... Goodman Brown questioned his faith and everything he ever knew. Young Goodman Brown was a story about how a man who thought he had everything together, then suddenly loses his faith due to circumstances ,like people not being what they were seen to be. The lost of faith for Young Goodman Brown is an allegory.
Nathaniel Hawthorne’s plot in this story was simply to take a man,Goodman Brown, and put obstacles in his way to show that his faith was not set up in stone, but set up on a dirt rock that turns into mud when rained on.
