For All Students CW is due on 2 December, 2003 (Tuesday). In general, your work is expected to be handed in individually to the University Assessment Unit, as one set of pages, fastened together, including an appropriate front page with your full name, student ID and E-mail address. Note the mark which you receive for this coursework will contribute to your final degree mark (50%) and it is important that you take this seriously. Your PDA (Personal Database Application) As the module progresses you will be building a substantial database application for a real-world scenario of your choosing. You will design a relational schema for the database, and you will create an actual database using a relational database management system. You will populate the database with sample data (at least five attributes for each table and at least five records each table). Your first step is to identify the domain you would like to manage with your database, and to construct an entity-relationship diagram for the data. I suggest that you pick an application that you will enjoy working with --a hobby, material from another course, a research project, etc, since you'll be stuck with it for the whole semester! Try to pick an application that is relatively substantial, but not too enormous.
