It is important for people to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses. There is much pressure on people in general to improve upon their weaknesses rather than embrace and cultivate their strengths. Assessing one’s traits, and identifying which traits on which to focus and cultivate, is important to that person’s success. Trying to perfect a weakness is self-defeating. People should focus on their strengths and perfect them. In my research, I have discovered that I am a motivator. I tend to succeed when my work is praised, and I tend to give praise to others when they do excellent work. When communicating negativities in someone’s work, I am very tactful and proactive. I try to give constructive criticism in order to motivate the person to improve himself/herself without feeling like he/she has failed. When my work results well, I become very motivated on the praise that I receive when others see my work. When my work is criticized or is not acceptable, it motivates me to do better when I resubmit my work. I become angry with myself, since I let others (and myself) down. When people are encouraged to use their strengths, rather than to improve their weaknesses, they are usually able to be more productive.
