Atomic Theories

By means of extensive research came the discovery of the atom and subatomic particles. In 1803, John Dalton presented the Law of Multiple Proportions. This law provided strength to the indication of atoms. It showed that the mass of one element that combines with a fixed mass of another element form simple whole number ratios. Demonstrating the Law of Multiple Proportions, he concluded that only matter made up of indivisible, basic particles could construct compounds. Thus, through experimental data, Dalton came to the conclusion of the Atomic Theory. It stated that matter is composed of atoms of differing weights and combine in simple ratios by weight. However, later in history, some of Dalton's hypotheses were found incorrect. Nonetheless, his outstanding effort and energies made a huge impact in science.
