Ecstasy (3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA) affects
mood and attitude by releasing higher than normal levels of serotonin to the
brain. ... The purpose of our
survey was to see how popular ecstasy is amongst the youth in our own
community. The question that we wanted to answer with this survey was: Is
there a difference between ecstasy use in males and females and are there
any similarities between users? ... We also used the positivist approach and worked
as sociologists looking at youth in society. ... Our
hypothesis for this survey was that we think that the ecstasy use between
males and females is pretty much equal. ...
After we analyzed our data we discovered that females do more
ecstasy, as well as other drugs than males do, therefore, proving our
hypothesis wrong. 40% of the females that we asked have done ecstasy. ... However, with
the males only 20% have done ecstasy. ... Therefore, not only do more females do ecstasy, but they also
do it more often than the males.
