This documentary is on juveniles in the prison system. There are many violent crimes that are committed by children as young as age nine. Over one hundred years ago Jane Adams created the first juvenile jail in the U.S., she convinced a doubting public that children who commit crimes are mostly lost souls who could be saved with proper attention and counseling. These youngsters do not know right from wrong. The U.S. prisons house about two hundred and fifty thirteen to fifteen year olds, three thousand one hundred sixteen to seventeen year olds. Fifty seven hundred juveniles in adult jails awaiting trial. Between nineteen eighty five and nineteen ninety four the children under eighteen prosecuted as adults rose seventy one percent.
