“ For brave Macbeth (well he deserves that name), disdaining fortune, with his brandished steel, which smoked with y (like valor’s minion)” (1.2.18-21). The caption talks about Macbeth and his great deeds done in battle. In the play Macbeth, Macbeth is thrown into a whirlwind of and betrayal. , Ambition, and Fear are major factors that lead to the demise of Macbeth. The whirlwind begins with the battle between the king and the Thane of Cawdor who is trying to kill the king. Macbeth becomes a hero by slaying many men on his conquest to kill the Thane of Cawdor. While doing this he becomes covered in the of everyone he kills. In this case, the king rewards him for his efforts, “And for an earnest of a greater honor, he bade me, from him, call thee Thane of Cawdor, in which addition, hail, most worthy Thane! For it is thine.” (1.3.116-119). So now Macbeth is wondering about the foretelling by the three es. They told him that he would be the Thane of Cawdor and then the king. So he wonders how he will become the king.
