Macbeth Lady Macbeth Themes through Character

In the play "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare the themes of "ambition and power", "appearance and reality" and "the relationship between gender and power" were developed through the character of Lady Macbeth.

Lady Macbeth, Macbeths wife, is a deeply ambitious woman who thirsts for power and to be the Queen of Scotland. ... Lady Macbeths ambition is so strong that at one point she even wishes that she was not a woman so that she could carry out the deed herself. ... " - Lady Macbeth.
Lady Macbeth does not seem to experience the same self doubt and hesitation as Macbeth and does not consider her crime very deeply, for example "These deeds must not be thought after in those ways, so it will make us mad" - Lady Macbeth.
