... The sport of street racing is taking over the lives of teenage drivers today. Street racing has impacted San Diego to the point where lives have been taken, laws have been made, and yet the sport will forever be around no matter what San Diegans do.
     Even before the controversial movie of The Fast and The Furious, a high velocity street racing movie, teens have been saving up money to buy import and domestic cars and fixing them up. ... As early as about two weeks ago eighteen year old Victor Flores died in a street racing related crash on May 17th off Route 78. ... Both are street racing related and both ended in fatalities. ... In 2002 there was 16 deaths and 31 injuries directly related to street racing. Among the unfortunate consequences there are penalties that warn people who do get caught participating in street racing. Not only if you participate in street racing, but if you’re a spectator of illegal street racing, you are just as guilty. Here are the facts of what penalties you can expect for participating in illegal racing.

Illegal Street Racing Penalties:
·     Convicted first time offenders for illegal street racing will have their license suspended for six-months.
·     Cars cited for illegal street racing will experience an automatic 30 day impound costing approximately $850. ...
