The roar of an F1 engine could be drowned out by heavy metal music at the European Grand Prix. The race, to be staged from April 25th to April 30th, has been doubled booked with the Nurburgring's annual rock festival, Rock am Ring. And while the two crowds would seemingly have a lot in common - a liking for copious beer and loud noise - the music promoters are expected to reschedule. Allegedly, they weren't hugely impressed having already printed and sold tickets. Fortunately Formula 1 pulled rank. Canadian GP organisers are still hopeful the race will be on the 2004 F1 calendar. The race was restored to the provisional calendar last month but the rescue package needed to save the race fell through last weekend.
