Jack Weatherford’s Native Roots: How the Indians Enriched America describes how he believes the Indian settlers, who were native to North and South America, successfully used skills of their own in conjunction with settlement communities to mold a strong political and economic culture. Weatherford does this by describing many different regions around America and how Indians and some settlers co-existed with one another. ... Weatherford in describing these people shows how Indians influenced the settlers greatly.
Weatherford in his book discusses how Indian knowledge of land and materials in America was a huge part of the success and development of America and its many different communities. Some of the ways Weatherford says the Indian knowledge was used is seen in the economic systems which eventually developed and the lumber industry in California which came about.
