Right now the world has an overpopulation of people filled with hatred and anger. ... When the planes crashed into the twin towers, the entire world wept for the lives of the innocent people who died. the song by the Eagles, “Hole in the World” questions how people can do such malicious acts to others. This song also says that until the world stops all the hate in it. The world will never become united. ... If everyone learned to replace their hatred with love the world would not be so bad. ... It is this hate, that creates the hole that to which the song is referring.
The chorus, “There’s a hole in the world tonight. ... There’s a hole in the world tonight. Don’t let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.” is a metaphor for how the world is now. Something needs to be done to keep the world from having this “hole“ spread.
