A Clockwork Orange is a very popular novel written by Anthony Burgess, which was published for the first time in 1962 by Heinemann. The story is starring a young English criminal, called Alex. By the start of the story, we get an overview of the excessive crimes Alex and his gang, consisting of his three friends, during one night. The next evening, we are able to see Alex being caught by the police during a robbery of an old lady, because he was treated by his fellow gang members, who no longer wanted to be under his leadership. The youngster is being imprisoned, and after two years in jail, in which he concentrated himself to the Holy Bible and classical music, but in which he also murdered another jail member, he is made subject of a new rehabilitation technique for prisoners, called ‘Ludovico’s Technique’. This technique consists in forcing the criminal to look at the most horrible crimes caught on film, causing a miserable feeling to the criminal every time he wants to do anything violent to another person.
