Langston Hughes describes the trauma he endured at the age of thirteen , In
the essay he makes the statement of, “I was saved from sin when I was going
on thirteen . ... Hughes brings the readers to the scene of the church , he tells
us how he was led to the church by his Aunt , when a revival was occurring.
Hughes also explained how his aunt describe to him how he would see
Jesus.
An excited Hughes was waiting for and actual figure to appear . ... An eager Hughes sits and waits for Jesus to appear , One
by one the children came to the phew claming they where saved , Not
understanding why Jesus had not come to him Hughes continued to wait for
him to appear.
