The Purpose of the Journey

     I can relate to Chris McCandless in a few ways. I am the same age as Chris was in the book. ... But I the difference between Chris and I is the fact that I knew why I needed to get away. But the question that leaves me hanging is why Chris decided to go on his journey. So the purpose of this paper is to explore if the cause of Chris’s death was the fact that he was totally unprepared or was he poisioned? ... This definition could fit all of the main characters from the novels read, however Chris Mc Candless? ... His name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. ... Chris McCandless is arguable whether he is a hero. ... Chris McCandless was one of those unsettled people who chose a challenge to bring himself understanding and peace. ... I don’t think we can even hope to change people’s minds; the issues involved in Chris’ venture are innate in each person. ... While McCandless was adamant about keeping separated from his family, his journal suggests that he started to question his choice towards the end of his venture. ... Yes, McCandless was cruel in the way he treated his family, but he may have resolved differences if he returned alive. ...
     McCandless’ venture into the wilds of Alaska led him on a journey to discover his purpose in life. ... But McCandless did not return. ...
