A group of individuals that come together with a common goal could be considered in many eyes as a team. However, to be an effective team, each person must possess traits such as communication, motivation, creativity, trust, respect, and leadership to be an asset to his/her team.
One area in which skills are also required is communication, which affects all of these areas such as, both intra- and inter-team communication. Most team members recognize that effective communication is important in order for the team to accomplish its objectives successfully. ... It is a good practice to summarize what you hear to minimize misunderstanding among members of the team. Members within the team need to learn how to communicate with each other, other teams, and the rest of the company (Pettit 12). ... A team environment cannot function efficiently under such networks. However, team members can create an environment that invites people to feel good about themselves as well as feel good about the work that he or she does, which could also enhance self-esteem. ...
