Visiting the World through the Five Themes of Geography

Japan is a country in the North Eastern Hemisphere. It is located on the continent of Asia at approximately 140* E, and 36* N. From Folsom, Japan is about five thousand miles away. It would also take about a ten to fifteen hour flight to get to Tokyo. Unlike America, Japan is a large island whose closest neighbors are hundreds of miles away. The closest countries to Japan are North Korea, South Korea, and China, all in who are on the Asian continent. Japan is quite small for its population of 124,711,551. With the area of 377,835 square kilometers, there are about 1,523 people per square kilometer. Unlike America, Japan is crowded and tight spaced for the large population. In a different perspective it means that half of America lives in an area smaller than California. Different from the population, the climate is similar to ours. During the winter it is generally rainy and has long cold winters.
