The dark and eerie world of Edgar Allen Poe has thrilled readers of his work since after his death. ... To me Poe’s stories remain different, yet similar at the same time, able to mysteriously tie into each other, somehow relating. ... There are also things that happen in Poe’s stories that seem as if they are not believable and that supernatural forces are occurring. ... In a very sophisticated way, Poe makes references to him self as not being a madman and doesn’t expect the reader to believe the tale. I can’t seem to understand why he does such a thing, but it could have something to do with the way Poe really is as an individual, aside from his works in which he is usually the narrator. ...
One can argue that Poe is just using his imagination, but I think it has to do with a lot more than his imagination. ... Weather it be putting on a mask and feeling like you can do whatever you want
and anything goes, having it slip out from the abuse of alcohol, or expressing your dark side on paper, in a story as Poe might be doing.
