The Benefit of High Performance Work Teams
With the added need to remain on the cutting edge, many companies today are either moving towards or have already implemented the concept of teamwork. ... Although this is one universal definition of a team, this broad idea can be broken down even further to address different types of teams used in the workplace today. The type of team used within an organization is high dependent on the needs of that organization. Nevertheless, all corporations are in the market to make money and the performance of their employees can have an impact on their bottom line. With that said, this leads to the topic of discussion which the benefit of high performance teams and their relevance in the workplace.

Upon reading this assignment, my first notion was that I have not heard about high performance teams however after reading the article What is a high performance Team, I learned that empowered teams, often referred to as high performance teams or self-directed work teams, are certainly not a new concept (O’Hara, 2001, 1).
