Macbeth
Macbeth, the famous tragedy by William Shakespeare, follows the downfall of a once respected nobleman. The witches, Lady Macbeth and even Macbeth’s own character were each partly responsible for this moral decline. The witches tempted Macbeth to strive for power through beguilement and deceit. Lady Macbeth convinced her husband to murder to fulfil her own desire for high status. It may also be argued that it was because of Macbeth’s excessive ambition that he diminished to the tragic figure he became. Macbeth’s weakness for success and his lack of morality is the leading trigger in his demise.
The witches being featured in the opening scene may display their significance as an evil influence to Macbeth. ... Their predictions for his social elevation tempted Macbeth to kill King Duncan; a man he had held in high regard.
