The movie, Four Days in September takes place in 1969 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is about the after effects of the military junta forming a dictatorship in Brazil as well as censoring the press in 1968. ...
This chapter, as well as the movie watched in class, shows in great deal what goes on in Brazil from the poor person’s point of view. It focuses on this so-called “Miracle” that Brazil was supposed to experience. This Miracle caused Brazil to grow at a little over ten percent a year. ... This dictatorship constantly spoke about Brazil had to grow and when it got big enough, everyone would get their share of it. When the Miracle ended in 1974 Brazil had an extremely high poverty rate as well as an enormous gap between distribution to the wealthy and to the poor. ... Just from reading one chapter and watching a movie I feel like I have learned so much about Brazil yet at the same time, I learned that there is so much that I do not know. While watching the movie I started to sympathize with what the people were going through and I was relieved to find out that in 1979 the military government of Brazil gave official pardons to anyone engaged in any political crimes.
