Life of the Town Town not taking anyone’s advice- Even though the town’s crops have been failing, they wish to ignore Sean and what he has to say about farming. Sean could probably teach the farmers a few tips, but they are so caught up in their routines, and they are too ignorant, to listen to what he has to say. Romona and Mrs. Abercrombie- Mrs. Abercrombie is a woman who rules the town. Everything goes her way. The odd time she doesn’t get things the way she wants them. If you stand in her way then you better watch out. It was just that Romona annoyed Mrs. Abercrombie. I think that if Mrs. Abercrombie, or anyone else in the town, investigated the tissue paper then they would have found out that it was harmless. That is exactly what Hislop did. He stood in Mrs. Abercrombie’s way though. She didn’t want the tissue paper on the windows so she made a threat that didn’t work. That was when she got angry. Mrs. Abercrombie and Hislop- Because of the incident with Romona, Mrs. Abercrombie wanted revenge. She was going to kick Hislop straight out of the congregations just because of their previous disputes. She made up a phony excuse to make him hand in his resignation, because she knew that whatever she said was going to work. Digby Feels Hopeless with Young Ben- Digby feels that he can no longer help Young Ben. Many people in the town do not care about the Bens and Digby is one of the few who does.
