Risk of Childhood Obesity
... Parents should prevent their childrenĄ¯s obesity in order to avoid a lifetime of physical and psychological problems. Because obese children will have a higher chance of becoming obese adults, parents should control their childrenĄ¯s obesity. Child obesity is defined as children who are more than 20 percent above the ideal weight for their particular height and age are considered obese. According to an article; after an obese child reaches six years of age, the probability that obesity has persisted exceeds 50 percent and 70 to 80 percent of obese adolescents will remain so as adults. The presence of obesity in at least one parent increases the risk of persistence in children at every age. Nutritionally, childhood obesity causes an increase the number of fat cells, and adult obesity influences the size of fat cells. According to this theory, if obese children will have obesity in adolescence and adulthood, they will have plenty of big fat cells. For example, if there are 2 people; one person had obesity in childhood, and the other becomes obesity in adulthood.
