It is without a doubt that when one mentions the title Romeo and Juliet to the general public, an image of a tragic romance comes to mind. ...

What is the meaning of death in the play? ... Or death as a disease when the Prince talks about the city of Verona being cankered with peace.
Chorus appears and speaks, "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life; whose misadventurous piteous overthrows doth with their death bury their parents strife." Continue on with the verse and one would realise that Shakespeare had used alliteration in order to show and emphasis the presence of death in the play. ...
Then scene changes swiftly and we find Lord Montague worrying over the state, emotionally, of his son, Romeo. ... He meant that unless Romeo goes out more and pines less, then surely his depression would kill him. Benvolio later meets said character who tells his good cousin that love is a sickness and then goes on talking that living a life without Rosalines love was equivalent to living a life of death. ... Of a despised life closed in my breast, by some vile forfeit of untimely death. ... In his dream, he has unknowingly predicted that death would come. It is fate and yet irony as well because at the end of the book, Romeo does die. Later on after he meets Juliet and the pair fall in love at first sight (pardon the cliché), Juliet tactfully questions her Nurse about Romeo.
