THE IMPACT OF THE MUSIC PRESS ON THE MUSIC INDUSTRY
With out the music press, would there be any such ting as a music industry or would there just be type of localised music culture?
Is the music press just there for its own benefit, by using the music industry to sell advertising and making money out of them?
If businesses stoped advertising their products on Music T. ... Shows, Radio Shows or in Music Newspapers, would these types of media shut down, would these programs stop running? Or do you think they would stand by the musicians and their industry and support them by still offering them air time for their songs and interviews to promote new release and tours, even though the media companies where getting no money for advertising.
NOT BLOODY LIKELY
Music press only exists to make money from advertising, using musicians and the music industry as bait. The music press isn’t interested in the musicians or their music, only that it fits into that particular programs format, so that their target audience will still keep reading, listening or watching.
While the target audience is still there the businesses will keep advertising, while the music press is still getting their money they will still promote the music industry. Then when the music industry doesn’t provide what the target audience want the businesses stop advertising and the press stop promoting the music, then the music goes nowhere. ... A target audience is the specific demographic that each separate program is aiming their product at whether it be a radio show, a TV program or a music magazine. The music press tailor their products to suit their target audience. ... Without the music press boy/girl bands would not exist (where would the world be without them).
