Attention Getter: Want to know what’s going on in the world today? All you have to do is tune into an episode of the Simpson’s. Americas longest running animated series has given our generation a chance to be entertained by the characters of Springfield. The show centers on a family that while dysfunctional, is a good representation of today’s American Family. Throughout its run, the Simpson’s has played host to everyone from the Beatles to former Presidents. In dealing with the issues affecting society the show has found loyal fan bases who watch the show for more than just its jokes. Reason to Listen: The reason the Simpson’s has played such a major role for our generation is because of its ability to grow with its audience and keep up to date. Many adults look at the Simpson’s as nothing more than a cartoon for little children to watch. Many parents find it odd that college students enjoy watching a show they consider to be nothing more than a cartoon. What they fail to understand is that the Simpson’s is more than that. The show deals with issues affecting our world today; whether it is relations with foreign countries, issues on tobacco, or on the use of drugs. The Simpson’s has shown that it is not afraid to target anyone. Because of the willingness of the show to go out there and deal with issues other shows will not, it has found a group of people who are diehard fans who religiously watch the show and will go out and buy any product with the Simpson’s name on it. Speaker Credibility: The Simpson’s is entering its 15th season on Fox making it not only the longest running cartoon series ever, but one of the longest running television series.
