About 6 years ago, shortly after my grandfather had passed on, my family and I were getting around to handing out the family memorabilia. But we couldn't find the old shoe box of photographs he'd always kept close at hand. We searched his room, the living area, the kitchen cookbook cabinets; we even looked under the bathroom sink. For the last three years of his life my grandfather lived in our house, ever since the age of 79 when he had an emergency surgery for an aortic aneurysm. His physical conditon kept him confined to the top floor of the house, except for an occasional ride out with one of us.
