Diversification of Gender Argumentation Jared Jennings Professor Skip Rutledge February 9, 2004 Diversification of Gender Argumentation Women always claim to be misunderstood even though, according to them, they provide all the necessary tools and information. Men begin to appropriately rebuttal these so acclaimed tools are hidden in a coded foreign language of the opposite sex. The problem lies not with our lack of willingness or even skill, but in the realization that gender communications are residing on completely separate plains. Information and general stereotypes given through media and possibly even ones home is that the man is in charge, and as the primary breadwinner, speaking with authority. Our women are a comforting person to us; a home mediator that at times talks too much. Men and women obviously speak differently and therefore will argue in different way as well. Women in general are looking for a connection, a way to relate and on a more basic level even identify with individuals especially with those whom they care about. Therefore when attempting this connection, women will use experiences, feelings, and general thoughts to identify their similarities to the person at hand. This technique was even used in a debate match at Point Loma Nazarene University’s 2004 Sunset Cliffs Classic, where women were observed to use experience and past feelings, connections and other unique self-expressions as tools in their debate style.
