The renaissance was a time when all of the arts flourished, including music. Similar to renaissance painting, sculpture, and literature, music was becoming more secular. The printing press, among other advancements in technology, allowed music to be documented and shared. This gave the opportunity to many people to compose and save their work making music a very popular creative outlet around the time. Music and poetry were considered by many to be inferior to painting because musicians were not held in such high esteem. This was because performing music was thought to be possible by anyone. ...
