Was Henry VIII a Catholic or a Protestant

Was Henry VIII a Catholic or Protestant?

England had always been catholic country for many years, however this was soon to change, starting in Henry VIII rule. ... However, some of these issues were Catholic and some of them went towards protestant views. Therefore, Henry was pleasing both religions and made them think that their King was heading towards their religion. However, what was the kings actual religion, was he a protestant or catholic? He was passing all these new reforms including the dissolution of the monasteries between1536-1540, which seemed protestant and Transubstantiation, which was catholic.
At the beginning of henrys rule he passed many reforms and laws, which seemed protestant. Later in his reign, Henry began to actually pass Catholic Acts, which unlike the supposed Protestant Acts, were actually relating to religion rather than power. This evidence makes it look like Henry was actually a protestant. ... During their time in power they overrode some parts of Catholicism that was in the country at that time, they got rid of liberties that the Catholic Church had like paying money to the pope. It seemed protestant. However, Henry did not really care whether protestant or catholic people were affected, he just wanted the power. ... The Catholic Church has a lot of power in England, it always had, and so Henry used his parliament to override this power that the Catholic Church in England had. This was more of a power issue to Henry than a religious one. ...
Another order that Henry passed that seemed protestant at the time was the charge of Preamunire in 1529. ... This charge was again related to Henry and his power he did not want his clergy and his people serving two master’s and someone else having influence on his realm as well as him. ... As well as being a power issue Henry also passed this charge as he was angry at the pope for not giving him, the king, his divorce and so did not want him to have a say in how his country was run.
