A good film review should help the reader determine interest in the movie, contain a brief synopsis, and should be written objectively and impartially. ... Also, written in a good review should be whether or not the actors’ performances were worthy, average, or just plain bad, and if there is excessive violence, profanity, and nudity.
A good write up critique should build interest in the movie such as in Roger Ebert’s review of “S. ... ” In this review Ebert states certain scenes that happened in the movie. ... Another element of a good review should tell the reader if it is a good or bad film. A good example of this is a review by Bob Townsend of the Atlantic Journal Constitution, “Good cop; bad cop. ... ” Also, Lee Tistaert’s review lets the reader know right away that the movie is disappointing and a “tame run of the mill cop movie with a script involving empty characters.”
Other elements of a good review should include what type of movie it is, such as: comedy, action, drama, adventure, horror, and others. It also needs to include the release
date of the film along with show times and theatres in which it is playing as well as length of the film. The name of the reviewer and his credentials should always be included in the review.
Every review should contain the names of the director and producer.
