3 Disc set Rating: **** (4/5) RRP: $79.95 By Sebastian Greenway It has been 28 long years since the cameras of Torquay’s most beloved hotel were in operation. And yes, I am talking about the hotel run by the sardonic, witty but emotionally unstable Basil Fawlty (John Cleese). The series, spanning over 12 episodes filling 3 DVD discs, with a running time of approximately 487 minutes, has been digitally re-mastered and packaged into one complete volume for you to enjoy in the comfort of your very own lounge room, any time you like. John Cleese, the miraculous man behind the scenes of the cult series, Monty Python is at his wacky best playing the role of an obnoxious hotel manager, who seems totally unable to cope with the smallest crisis. His actions are clouded by his judgmental mentality (in terms of socio-status) which we see in the very first episode, A Touch of Class, by the way he obsequiously offers ‘Lord Melbury’ free wine, and gracefully allows his ‘Lordship’ to cash a cheque for two hundred pounds at the hotel.
