One of the major things disputed and analyzed in regards to film is the idea of an “auteur theory”. ...
Another reason this concept of an auteur in film is disregarded is because of what the actors/actresses bring to the screen. ... The auteur proved that film could be an art, and expression of personal thought and feeling, opposed perhaps to the universal appeal of most movies. For this reason alone the auteur is viewed as someone who contributes greatly to a film, but at the same time its is understood that he is not the one solely responsible for the “magic” that the big screen makes possible, but rather it is a collaborative effort by many different people.
