philosophy

After reading the descriptions and testing myself on the philosophies of education, I have determined that my philosophical label is social reconstruction. The label greatly defines my beliefs and the way in which I perceive the purpose of the classroom. I never have understood the intention and the importance of knowing the explicit details of the different subjects which I was exposed to in school. I believe that being more knowledgeable of “tomorrow’s history” or today, is much more significant than “today’s history” or yesterday. As a student in elementary, middle, and high school, I can remember having to cram for tests full of irrelevant material and work for days on insignificant projects about the “Great Books.” I never truly enjoyed learning because I could not understand how the material I was being taught would help me in making the world a better place.
