Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to determine the identity of three unknown solutions by developing a series of experiments, which will help you determine which solution is which. Hypothesis: When NaCl is added with AgNO3 a precipitate should be formed and be visible which means that Silver Nitrate is present. The other solutions will have no reaction visible. When Na3PO4 is added with CaNO3 a precipitate will be formed which brings the conclusion that the solution is CaNO3. The other solutions will have no reaction visible. Then due to the fact that there was no visible reaction the final solution will be H2O. Experimental Design: • Use the solubility table to determine what solutions will help you determine what solution is which.
