Media Studies - Thriller Essay
Thrillers have provided movie-goers with an “edge of your seat” experience.
They are one of the most important and popular genres’ in the movie business
because they can entertain the viewer right up until the final moment of the
film. They generally are set around a murder where the plot of the film is based
upon the main character looking for someone. From the early Alfred Hitchcock
thrillers right up until the modern-day murder mysteries, thrillers have
generally followed this trend. Some of the best early thrillers include Rear
Window and North by Northwest. The more recent thrillers that are acclaimed
as being the best are Silence of the Lambs and The Bone Collector. In this
essay I will describe how thrillers have changed over the years and I will
compare the action, characters and effects of both old and modern-day films.
