MacBeth Essay

... Shakespeare develops the idea in the play MacBeth that the cost of pursuing one’s passion at all costs is too great. Four things that indicated this are the two main characters MacBeth and Lady MacBeth began to suffer psychologically, they lost everything that held meaning, they were physically drained and he lost their morals.

MacBeth and Lady MacBeth suffered psychologically as a result of pursuing their greedy passion at all costs. For instance in Act 2 Scene 1 Line 40-70 MacBeth said “Is this a dagger which I see before me…I have thee not, and yet I see thee still…art thou but a dagger of the mind…” This scene clearly illustrates that MacBeth was hallucinating, and was mentally troubled.
