· The National Museum of American history located at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue N.W. is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. Admission to the museum is free. On approaching the museum, a long trail of people are seen to be moving into the building. Most of these people are tourist, students and families all gathered outside the museum waiting to enter. Despite the intensity of the sun most people waited patiently in line. They constituted mostly Caucasian, Asian in addition to a few blacks. On drawing near the entrance hall there were two doors that led into the museum, and one has to enter according to whether he or she is carrying a bag of some sort. Those with bags were required to move to the right lane and those without bags to the left lane. People in both lanes walk through a metal detector door, and those in the right lane have their bags scrutinized by security guards.
