Intro
The death penalty is a controversial issue with many different aspects. Many individuals feel as if the death penalty is a lawful and appropriate for certain crimes. ... Another question debates whether the death penalty should exist regardless of the crime committed or the person who is involved. The death penalty is often argued under the 8th Amendment which is cruel and unusual punishment to everyone who is of its victims. ... On the other hand, others support the death penalty under most situations and feel it is a way to show a form of justice and without it, horrible crimes could go without an appropriate punishment. ...
Issue
The issue debates the death penalty is a suitable punishment to adults who have a mental handicap. It is already a controversial issue in deciding if a regular individual should be sentenced to the death penalty because many feel no matter the situation it would be considered wrong. Some claim that under no circumstances is a person to be punished with the death penalty. However, on the other hand, many feel that a criminal should be punished with the death penalty because it can be used as a major deterrence in major crimes. ... The Supreme Court must determine if this person is worthy of such a harsh penalty. ... The People, a man is convicted and is held on trial to decide whether he should be charged with the death penalty. ...
