Verbal Communication in Cultures
Abstract: Verbal communication has been playing an important part in the development of human society, not only in the primitive stage but also in the modern world. This paper focuses on verbal communication in cultures from three aspects: the universality and importance of communication, the usage of verbal communication, and two categories of verbal communication.

1. The universality and importance of communication
In society, we meet different kinds of people every day, they come from different cultural background and this is a type of intercultural communication. The relationships between these people and the person individually changes so there are lots of communication kinds and distances between these people and the person. ... Specifically, we meet a person who is a foreigner and contains different beliefs, values, religion, or ways of behaving; it can be a kind of intercultural communication. Intercultural communication is very common in modern society. ... It includes different situations of communication such as in interpersonally, small groups, public speaking or media. Through communication, we exchange and compare different point of views in cultural, values, or ways of behaving. Such as people from White to Black, or people from China to Thailand, both cultures are very different one. When we meet other people, it is generally a kind of intercultural communication as each nation has different background of culture.
However, communication is integral for any relationship. ... Not only is communication important for the success of any relationship, but the lack of it can absolutely ruin a relationship. The outcome of poor communication includes feelings of betrayal, fast extended distrust, misunderstandings, accumulation of problems, self-isolation, and the deterioration of relationships.
